What is this?
‘Imbas’ is an old Celtic word meaning ‘otherworldy revelation’.
IMBAS is a newsletter about filmmaking and mythology, brought to you by Xan Gilmour and his production company: Imbas Pictures Ltd.
Xan is a filmmaker of mythic fantasies, psychological thrillers and sci-fi music videos, as well as documentaries about trees, techno and refugees. Here’s his portfolio.
After graduating from Oxford University with a 1st-class degree in History in 2019, he worked at OTOXO Productions, the International Observatory of Human Rights, Starfish Foundation, the LEAF, and as Director’s Assistant to Kristin Scott Thomas.
He speaks Chinese, French and Spanish, as well as English, and he grew up around NYC, Jerusalem, Dakar, Belgrade and Britain.
